The winners of the UK Songwriting Contest were announced on 8 August 2013. Afra Naushad, 27, the Indian doctor-turned-writer based in Saudi Arabia reached the semi-final round for the song Run Into The Wild. Other Indian origin winners included Shelly Bhushan in the adult contemporary category and Akshay Chowdhary and Sumant Balakrishnan in the rock category.
