Thirty-Seven pilgrims which included women as well as children were
killed when the Saharsa-Patna Rajyarani Express ploughed on them at the
speed of 80 kmph on 19 August 2013. The accident took place at Bihar's
Khagaria district.
The devotees of Lord Shiva were walking
alongside the tracks at Dhamara Ghat station after landing from the
Samastipur-Saharsa passenger. Khagaria is situated 160 km away from
Patna. The victims hailed from Naughachia, Munger, Sahrsa and Khagaria.
The pilgrims were going to Katyani Sthan temple on the fourth and final Monday of holy Hindu month Shrawan.
