19th Delhi Book Fair Started Off At Pragati Maidan, New Delhi

The 19th Delhi Book Fair started off on 23 August 2013 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. The theme of the 19th Delhi Book Fair is Libraries and Readership. The theme will focus on the role of libraries on the Indian society. The book fair will take place till 31 August 2013.

In the nine-day event, around 250 participants will be there, which will also include the overseas publishers. The Delhi Book Fair is organised every year by the Federation of Indian Publishers in collaboration with India Trade Promotion Organisation.

Various publishers from across the country including those from Delhi, Maharashtra, Kerala, Jharkhand, Andhra Pradesh and international participants from the US and China will take part in the event. In the fair, apart from book display, various discussions, book releases events, seminars and conferences will take place. The fair is open for public from 11.00 a.m. to 8.00 p.m.

Delhi Book Fair established itself as a door to the Indian book publishing industry. The fair offers a platform for all the bookseller authors, publishers, translators and book lovers. It is important to note that India is the only country which publishes books in more than 24 languages. In the official languages of India, around 90000 titles are published with over 16000 publishing houses.

Delhi Book Fair started off in the year 1995. It is the annual cultural event and depicts the performance of the Indian Publishing Industry.
