Scottish author Iain Banks, who is best known for his novels The Wasp Factory and The Crow Road, died of Cancer on 9 June 2013 at the age of 59.
Iain Banks revealed he had a terminal cancer two months prior before his death.
His final book The Quarry was scheduled to publish in less than 15 days. The book protagonist was Iain Banks himself and the story focuses on the final weeks in the life of its cancer-ridden protagonist.
