Scottish fiction writer Iain Banks died at the Age of 59

Scottish author Iain Banks, who is best known for his novels The Wasp Factory and The Crow Road, died of Cancer on 9 June 2013 at the age of 59.
Iain Banks revealed he had a terminal cancer two months prior before his death.
His final book The Quarry was scheduled to publish in less than 15 days. The book protagonist was Iain Banks himself and the story focuses on the final weeks in the life of its cancer-ridden protagonist.

• He was born in Fife in Scotland in 1954, where he continued to live up until his death.
• Iain Banks was one of Britain's most creative writers and remarkable in his talent for both mainstream novels and science fiction.
• He used to write book under the name Iain M Banks.
