ONGC Participated in Campaign Clean India; Decided to Adopt Six Monuments

The Ministry of Tourism (MoT) roped in Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (ONGC) for maintenance as well as cleanliness of Taj Mahal as well as five more tourist destinations, under the Campaign Clean India. ONGC will adopt six tourist destinations in all.

The six tourist destinations adopted by ONGC include Mahabalipuram in Tamil Nadu, Ellora Caves and Elephanta Caves in Maharashtra, Taj Mahal in Agra, Golkonda Fort in Hyderabad and Red Fort in Delhi. Tourism Minister K Chiranjeevi met ONGC CMD S Vasudeva to seek its participation in Campaign Clean India. The initiative of ONGC is the part of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) of ONGC.

In order to speed up the process, Ministry of Tourism (MoT) took the matter with Archeological Survey of India (ASI) in order to chalk out the details of cost estimates, activities, nomination of nodal officers for every monument as well as identification of the executive agencies.

Campaign Clean India is the sensitisation as well as awareness campaign of MoT. It has been launched as the part of initiatives for tourism in the 12th Five Year Plan. Campaign Clean India brings together government departments, stakeholders, media, NGOs and academia of travel industry. It also encourages active participation for promoting cleanliness at the tourist destinations all over India.
