The ESPN channel on 7 June 2013 was directed by the High Court of Delhi
to provide live signals of ICC Champions Trophy 2013 in England to
Doordarshan without any commercials till its further orders.
A vacation bench that comprised Justices Manmohan Singh and R.V. Easwar in their interim order ordered the petitioner (ESPN) to provide live signals without any commercials of the ongoing Champions Trophy to Doordarshan, so that Doordarshan would be able to telecast the ICC Champions Trophy 2013 as per commitment and object of the Prasar Bharati (Broadcasting Corporation of India) Act.
The bench was hearing a petition filed by the ESPN that sought a direction to Prasar Bharati not to insist on the live signal of the ICC Champions Trophy without any commercial.
The one-day international tournament started in England on 6 June 2013 and will continue till 23 June 2013.
