Paleontologists named an ancient Southeast Asian Giant Lizard that lived
on the earth some 40 million years ago in the hot tropical forests of
Southeast Asia was named after the Lizard King, the Door’s Frontman, Jim
Morrison.
The extinct lizard of about six feet in size was the one of the biggest herbivorous lizard on earth and was named as Barbaturex Morrisoni. It weighed about 60 pounds. The giant lizard's genus name Barbaturex means bearded king.
The researchers from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln took inspiration from the lyrics in the musical piece of the band The Doors, as the nickname of the Morrison was the Lizard King.
